Electronic voting in the Czech Republic

The bachelor thesis addresses the issue of electronic voting. The main aim of the thesis is to evaluate the readiness of the Czech Republic for the potential implementation of electronic voting and to analyse the attitudes of the Czech public towards the possibility of voting via the internet. The first part of the thesis focuses on the theoretical framework and research of the examined field. It also includes an analysis of experiences with internet voting in European countries. The next part focuses on electronic voting in the context of the Czech Republic. This part evaluates whether the Czech Republic is ready for the implementation of internet voting based on the key prerequisites for the introduction of internet voting. From the findings it can be concluded that the Czech Republic is currently not ready for the implementation of electronic voting. The main obstacles include the underdeveloped digital infrastructure of the public administration, financial requirements and political barriers. The final part of the thesis contains research on the attitudes of the Czech public towards internet voting, based on data obtained through a questionnaire survey and interviews. The results of the research show that the public's views on this topic are mixed. Positive attitudes towards electronic voting are most pronounced among younger generations, while support for internet voting decreases with increasing age.
