The transformation of British society from the end of the conservative 1950s to the early "Swinging Sixties"

The bachelor’s thesis focuses on the analysis of the impacts of interventions by successive British governments from the end of the conservative 1950s to the early “Swinging Sixties.” The thesis systematically examines the effects of interventions implemented by both Conservative and later Labour governments. The analysis pays particular attention to specific areas of economics and social policy, including, for example, support for education and unemployment trends. For each government, the key macroeconomic data are presented in detail, serving as the basis for subsequent comparisons. Based on the examination of this data, the author concludes that, although the 1960s are often seen as a symbol of British prosperity, particularly in culture and fashion, there were certain areas that were less successful. Among these, the author highlights the unemployment rates, which in the 1960s significantly exceeded those of the 1950s.
