Spatial analysis of brewing companies in the context of the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic

This bachelor’s thesis focuses on the analysis of the Czech brewing industry and its development during the Covid-19 pandemic. The theoretical part provides fundamental information about beer, the history of brewing, and the theory of spatial analysis, forming a framework for the study. Additionally, it describes the Czech beer market, market regulations, and future trends in its development. The second part of the thesis examines the economic impact of the pandemic on the brewing sector in the Czech Republic, including an assessment of changes in economic indicators such as GDP, consumption, inflation, and unemployment. The observed period, 2018–2023, was divided into three time intervals, which were evaluated using graphs and analyses from the Czech Statistical Office, the Czech National Bank, and the Ministry of Finance. The final part analyzes the specific effects of the pandemic on brewing companies, including government measures and breweries' responses to this crisis. A comparison of financial indicators across different size groups of brewing enterprises illustrates how the pandemic influenced their economic performance. These financial indicators include EBITDA (ZOUD), ROA, ROE, FG, DR, inventory turnover, and trade deficit. The thesis contributes to a better understanding of the impact of global crises on local industrial sectors and may serve as a basis for future strategic decisions in the brewing industry.
