| Abstract: | Předkládaná diplomová práce se zabývá příčinami problémů v jedné ze stěžejních oblastí ve zdravotnictví, a to mateřskou péčí v Keňské republice. Cílem diplomové práce je identifikace a zhodnocení příčin problémů ve zdravotní péči o matky jakožto cíle MDGs a SDGs v Keňské republice. První část, která se soustředí výlučně na region subsaharské Afriky, poskytuje přehled příčin neúspěchu rozvojových iniciativ OSN, a to jak MDGs, tak SDGs, v oblasti mateřského zdraví v subsaharské Africe na základě dostupné odborné literatury. Zjištění z první kapitoly slouží jako východisko pro případovou studii Keňské republiky ve druhé části práce. Zde jsou identifikovány hlavní příčiny neúspěchu cílů v oblasti zdraví matek na národní úrovni, jež jsou následně porovnávány s obecnými trendy v subsaharské Africe popsanými v první kapitole. Pozornost je věnována ekonomickým a strukturálním příčinám, příčinám souvisejícím s kvalitou a dostupností zdravotní péče, stejně jako novorozenecké úmrtnosti jakožto specifickému faktoru. Konečně práce zkoumá sociální determinanty mateřského zdraví. |

| Abstract: | The presented thesis examines the causes of problems in one of the key areas in the health sector, namely maternity care in the Republic of Kenya. The aim of the thesis is to identify and assess the causes of problems in maternal health care as a target of the MDGs and SDGs in the Republic of Kenya. The first part, which focuses exclusively on the sub-Saharan African region, provides an overview of the reasons for the failure of UN development initiatives, both MDGs and SDGs, in maternal health in sub-Saharan Africa based on available literature. The findings from the first chapter serve as the basis for the case study of the Republic of Kenya in the second part of the thesis. Here, the main reasons for the failure of maternal health targets at the national level are identified, which are then compared with the general trends in sub-Saharan Africa described in chapter one. Attention is given to economic and structural causes, causes related to quality and access of health care, as well as neonatal mortality as a specific factor.
