Improving the use of timber in construction in the Czech Republic with the contribution of the practice from abroad

In the context of the growing importance of using sustainable practices in construction, especially for the purpose of directly reducing the carbon footprint, the use of wood as a building material is increasingly perceived as a key element of sustainable development. Compared to other materials used in construction, wood is not only a relatively easily renewable resource, but also a material that has the ability to bind carbon and, last but not least, is also known for its considerable energy efficiency. It could therefore be said that wood has the best prerequisites of becoming the material of the future. The author also chose this topic because he believes that the Czech Republic has historically had a potential for wood processing and this tradition could be used for a widespread transition to the use of wood as the main material in construction, perhaps more appropriately and effectively than has been the case so far. The aim of the work is to compare policies for supporting the use of wood in construction in the Czech Republic and abroad, and then, based on specific findings, to establish recommendations for better and greater use of this material in construction in our country. To achieve the goal, among other things, the author communicated with the company Nema s.r.o., which produces wooden building panels.
