Maritime Transport Crises and Their Resolutions

The thesis focuses on crisis situations in maritime transport and the ways in which they are handled. Maritime transport forms the backbone of international trade, as more than 80% of global goods are transported by sea. The stability and smooth operation of maritime routes are therefore essential for the efficient functioning of the global economy. The thesis analyzes selected crisis events, including the grounding of the Ever Given in the Suez Canal, the sinking of the Felicity Ace, armed attacks in the Red Sea region, and the collapse of the Baltimore bridge caused by the vessel Dali. The aim of the thesis is to determine whether and how these incidents impact logistics flows and supply chains, while also identifying actual solutions to such crises. The findings show that disruptions in maritime transport have significant effects not only on a local level but also globally. This underscores the need for preventive measures and effective responses from logistics and trade stakeholders.
