Regulation of the Autonomous Vehicle Market in the EU

This bachelor’s thesis focuses on the regulation of autonomous vehicles in the European Union and its impact on international trade. The aim of the thesis is to identify legal barriers to the operation of autonomous vehicles within the EU, to analyze regulatory differences between EU Member States, the United States, and the United Kingdom, and to assess how these barriers affect the economy and trade. To achieve this aim, the thesis employs the methods of description of the current legal framework, comparison of different regulatory approaches, and analysis of identified obstacles. The thesis is divided into three main parts. The first part provides a basic overview of the issue of autonomous vehicles, their technical and legal aspects within the EU context. The second part compares the regulatory approaches in the EU, the USA, and the United Kingdom. The third part analyzes specific barriers to international trade resulting from these regulatory differences.
