| Abstract: | Diplomová práce se věnuje analýze faktoru nacionalismu v zahraniční politice Itálie během vlády Benita Mussoliniho. Výzkumná otázka práce zní: jakým způsobem byl nacionalismus využit při formování zahraniční politiky Itálie pod vedením Benita Mussoliniho? Práce využívá kvalitativní případovou studii zaměřenou na tři klíčové události: invazi do Etiopie, sbližování s Německem a invazi do Řecka. Teoretický rámec práce je založen zejména na modernistických teoriích nacionalismu. Závěry ukazují, že nacionalismus neplnil pouze roli legitimizačního nástroje zahraniční expanze, ale tvořil i ideologický základ imperiálního směřování režimu. Zároveň byla samotná zahraniční politika využívána jako nástroj k posilování a sjednocování národní identity. |

| Abstract: | The thesis analyses the factor of nationalism in the foreign policy of Italy during the reign of Benito Mussolini. The research question of the thesis is: how was nationalism used in shaping Italy's foreign policy under Benito Mussolini? The thesis uses a qualitative case study focusing on three key events: the invasion of Ethiopia, the rapprochement with Germany and the invasion of Greece. The theoretical framework of the thesis is mainly based on modernist theories of nationalism. The conclusions show that nationalism not only served as a legitimizing tool for foreign expansion, but also formed the ideological basis of the regime's imperial direction. At the same time, foreign policy itself was used as a tool to strengthen and unify national identity. |
