Process Optimization in Company's Internal Payroll Department

This thesis focuses on the optimization and automation of processes within the internal payroll department of a corporate consulting company. The thesis systematically maps, analyzes, and optimizes the monthly payroll processing procedures with the aim of increasing the department's efficiency and productivity. Based on a review of professional literature, the thesis presents the advantages of process mapping and automation, providing a theoretical foundation for the practical part. The main contributions of the project are: comprehensive documentation of the payroll process using process diagrams; identification of areas suitable for optimization and automation based on comparable criteria; implementation of four specific automation solutions using the Alteryx Designer tool; and the design of a Power BI dashboard to monitor their usage. The effectiveness of the implemented solutions was verified using evaluation questionnaires. The thesis also contributes to the general development of process mapping by providing an overview of existing notations and tools, practical verification of the Universal Process Notation (UPN), instructions for creating UPN diagrams in MS Visio, and the application of a repeatable pattern for process automation in a corporate environment, which can serve as a guide for similar projects. The results of the thesis demonstrate the potential of a systematic approach to optimizing internal processes for increasing the efficiency and competitiveness of an organization.
