Design and implementation of analytical solutions for the Ministry of Industry and Trade

This thesis focuses on the design and implementation of an analytical solution for the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic. The aim of the thesis is to design and implement a pilot Business Intelligence solution in Microsoft Power BI environment, which will make the work with publicly available data sources more efficient and support decision-making processes at the Ministry. The introductory part of the thesis introduces the Ministry as a central state administration body and analyses the current state of working with data, including used data sources, typical analytical tasks and needs for a new solution. Based on the identified requirements, a new solution including a multi-layered data warehouse architecture in Microsoft Azure environment was proposed. This includes the design of ETL processes for automated data retrieval and transformation. The output of the pilot solution is reports focused on the area of business demographics, which thematically corresponds to the focus of the department and is relevant for the creation of economic analyses. The proposed data marketplace also enables efficient work with data in both Power BI and Microsoft Excel environments. The main benefit of the solution is the creation of a single data repository that replaces the existing manual processing.
