Comparison of the Integration Platforms Boomi and Apache Camel on the Example of Data Integration in the NetSuite System Environment

This bachelor’s thesis focuses on the comparison of two integration platforms – Boomi and Apache Camel – using a real-world data integration scenario within the NetSuite ERP system. The aim of the thesis is to evaluate both platforms in terms of functionality, development efficiency, maintainability, scalability, and performance of integration solutions. The research combines a literature review, a case study, and the implementation of two parallel integration solutions based on an identical scenario, which are then assessed using a multi-criteria evaluation method. The findings show that while Boomi offers higher throughput and convenient tools for connecting to specific systems, Apache Camel provides significantly greater flexibility, openness, and support for modern development and operational practices. These qualities make Camel a more suitable choice for complex and long-term sustainable integration solutions within the NetSuite environment. The thesis delivers a practically applicable comparison that can support decision-making when selecting an integration platform in enterprise contexts.
