Time series analysis of air connections between the Czech Republic and selected Spanish airports

The bachelor’s thesis focuses on the analysis and processing of time series data on the number of passengers transported between the Czech Republic and selected Spanish airports (Barcelona-El Prat, Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas, Málaga-Costa del Sol, and Palma de Mallorca). The data analyzed covers the period from 2015 to 2024 and was obtained from the database of the Statistical Office of the European Union (Eurostat). The analysis utilizes basic descriptive statistics and methods aimed at modeling the seasonal and trend components of the time series. The thesis is based on the increasing number of direct flights between smaller Czech airports and Spanish destinations. The goal of the thesis is to examine the development of the time series, identify seasonal influences, and compare trends among the individual air routes. Special attention is given to the exploratory question of whether historical developments already reveal a growing interest in air travel to Spain, which could be one of the reasons for the later emergence of new direct routes from smaller Czech airports.
