Amateur Theatre as the Basis of Local Culture in Dobrovice

The thesis deals with the culture of Dobrovice. It focuses on Dobrovít, a local theatre group. The aim of the thesis is to highlight the importance of Dobrovít as a part of the town’s culture, to define current problems and challenges the group faces, and to suggest possibilities for its development. The research is conducted in the form of in-depth interviews with people who represent different branches of cultural life of the town paired with an analyses of important documents, which include the town’s chronicles and other internal materials of the theatre group. At this time, the state of the ensemble is stable, so more ambitious dramaturgy and deepening of cooperation with other brancher of cultural life in the city can be recommended.
