| Abstract: |
Tato bakalářská práce si klade za cíl analyzovat přístup Korejské republiky k ochraně obtížného dědictví (difficult heritage) spojeného s obdobím japonské okupace (1910–1945). Zvláštní pozornost je věnována dopadu tohoto přístupu na kolektivní paměť a národní identitu. Práce kombinuje teoretická východiska s analýzou konkrétních případů, přičemž využívá široké spektrum sekundárních zdrojů (odborná literatura, akademické články) a zároveň pracuje s primárními daty získanými vlastním kvantitativním výzkumem mezi jihokorejskou mládeží. Ačkoliv je povědomí o koloniální architektuře mezi mladými Jihokorejci není příliš vysoké, jejich postoje k ní jsou emocionálně a symbolicky zatížené. Přístup k těmto památkám je diferencovaný, některé byly zničeny, jiné zachovány jako muzea a další přeměněny pro nové účely. |

| Abstract: |
This bachelor's thesis aims to analyze the approach of the Republic of Korea to the preservation of difficult heritage associated with the period of Japanese occupation (1910–1945). Special attention is given to the impact of this approach on collective memory and national identity. The study combines theoretical frameworks with case study analysis, utilizing a wide range of secondary sources (scholarly literature, academic articles) as well as primary data collected through the author’s own quantitative research among South Korean youth. Although awareness of colonial-era architecture among young South Koreans is not particularly high, their attitudes toward it are emotionally and symbolically charged. The treatment of these heritage sites varies, some have been demolished, others preserved as museums, and some repurposed for new functions. |
