Comparison of the perception and expectations of artificial intelligence between students of the Faculty of Business Administration and the Faculty of Informatics and Statistics at the University of Economics in Prague (VŠE)

| Abstract: | Tato bakalářská práce porovnává znalosti vnímání a očekávání spojená s umělou inteligencí u studentů technických oborů (Fakulta informatiky a statistiky – FIS) a studentů manažerských oborů (Fakulta podnikohospodářská – FPH) na VŠE v Praze. Pro sběr dat byl využit online dotazník, do něhož se zapojilo 38 respondentů. Data byla vyhodnocena pomocí deskriptivní statistiky a srovnávacích testů pro identifikace rozdílů mezi oběma skupinami. Výsledky ukázaly, že rozdíly mezi studenty jsou menší, než se předpokládalo. Studenti obou fakult považují AI především za nástroj pro administrativní a podpůrné úkoly, následované operativními činnostmi; strategické využití hodnotí jako nejméně přínosné. AI je vnímána spíše jako osobní asistent pro učení a rozvoj než jako transformativní náhrada procesů. V povědomí o možných uplatněních AI se liší: studenti FPH mají omezený přehled o technických i manažerských uplatněních, zatímco studenti FIS dobře rozumějí technickým uplatněním, ale téměř neznají možnosti v oblasti strategie. |

| Abstract: | This bachelor’s thesis compares the knowledge, perceptions, and expectations related to artificial intelligence among students of technical programs (Faculty of Informatics and Statistics – FIS) and students of management programs (Faculty of Business Administration – FPH) at the University of Economics in Prague. Data were collected via an online questionnaire completed by 38 respondents. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and comparative tests to identify differences between the two groups. The results showed that the differences between the students were smaller than anticipated. Students from both faculties perceive AI primarily as a tool for administrative and supportive tasks, followed by operational activities; they rate strategic applications as the least beneficial. AI is viewed more as a personal assistant for learning and development than as a transformative replacement of processes. Awareness of potential AI applications varies: FPH students have a limited understanding of both technical and managerial uses, whereas FIS students understand the technical applications well but are largely unaware of its strategic potential. |
