The Improvement of Public Spaces in Hradčany and Malá Strana with Regard to the Needs of People with Physical and Visual Disabilities

The bachelor's thesis focuses on analyzing the shortcomings related to the accessibility of public spaces in Hradčany and Malá Strana, with regard to the needs of individuals with physical or visual disabilities. The theoretical part discusses, among other things, the specific requirements of these two groups for movement and orientation in public spaces. These findings, along with interviews with a resident of Hradčany who uses a wheelchair and a teacher specializing in spatial orientation at a school for children with visual impairments, form the basis for identifying deficiencies in these neighborhoods. In the practical part, these shortcomings are also incorporated into the creation of an accessibility map of the streets for people with physical disabilities. The thesis concludes with recommendations on how to improve the public space of Hradčany and Malá Strana in terms of accessibility for individuals with physical and visual disabilities.
