| Abstract: | Bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na hodnocení odolnosti farmaceutického průmyslu v USA vůči ekonomickým krizím. Cílem práce je vyhodnotit hypotézu o míře odolnosti amerického farmaceutického průmyslu vůči ekonomickým krizím pro období 1993–2023, především s důrazem na tři hlavní ekonomické krize v tomto období Práce kombinuje analýzu strukturálních a ekonomických rysů farmaceutického průmyslu s praktickou regresní analýzou celého odvětví a multikriteriálním hodnocením vybraných firem. Výsledky regresní analýzy ukazují, že ekonomické krize negativně ovlivňují růst tržeb farmaceutického sektoru, avšak až s časovým zpožděním. Multikriteriální hodnocení ukazuje negativní dopad především na ziskovost firem (EBITDA marži). Naopak stabilitu projevily výdaje na výzkum a vývoj a samotné tržby. Přidanou hodnotou práce je komplexní přehled vývoje celého odvětví a kombinace kvantitativních i kvalitativních přístupů. Práce tak přispívá k hlubšímu pochopení dynamiky farmaceutického sektoru během krizových období a nabízí podněty pro hospodářskou politiku i firemní strategii. |

| Abstract: | This bachelor thesis focuses on evaluating the resilience of the pharmaceutical industry in the United States to economic crises. The aim is to assess the hypothesis regarding the degree of resilience of the U.S. pharmaceutical sector during the period 1993–2023, with particular emphasis on three major economic crises within this timeframe. The thesis combines an analysis of the structural and economic characteristics of the pharmaceutical industry with a practical regression analysis of the sector as a whole and a multi-criteria evaluation of selected companies. The results of the regression analysis indicate that economic crises have a negative impact on revenue growth in the pharmaceutical sector, albeit with a time lag. The multi-criteria evaluation reveals that profitability (measured by EBITDA margin) is the most affected indicator, whereas R&D expenditures and revenues remain relatively stable. The added value of this thesis lies in its comprehensive overview of the industry's development and the combination of quantitative and qualitative approaches. The thesis contributes to a deeper understanding of the dynamics of the pharmaceutical sector during periods of economic downturn and offers insights for economic policy and corporate strategy. |
