Improvement of software test management processes in an agile environment

The diploma thesis deals with the issue of software test management in an agile environment, in the context of an organization operating in a highly regulated financial sector. The aim of the thesis is to analyze the current state of test management processes in a selected institution that uses agile approaches to software development, and based on the findings, to propose specific recommendations for their improvement. The empirical part of the thesis is based on qualitative research conducted in the form of ten semi-structured interviews with experts directly involved in test management. The data is subsequently processed using thematic analysis, which enables the identification of recurring patterns, themes, and connections in the participants’ statements. Key findings are identified in the area of best practices in test management, common challenges related to planning, monitoring, and test completion, and findings are also presented in the area of professional identity and the team role of the test manager in an agile development. The result of the thesis is a proposal of a comprehensive set of recommendations that respond to specific problems identified in the examined organization. These recommendations are validated through expert consultations and may serve as inspiration for other organizations striving to optimize the management of testing in an agile environment.
