Airline Catering in Commercial Air Transport

This bachelor thesis focuses on airline catering as an essential part of passenger experience and marketing differentiation in the air transport sector. The aim of the thesis is to analyze the differences in catering services across economy, business and first class cabins, to identify the main operational and marketing factors affecting the quality of meals, and to assess the impact of innovations and sustainable practices on customer perception. The methodology combines secondary research of academic literature, industry reports and statistics with a qualitative case study of Alpha Flight a.s., carried out through a personal structured interview with the company’s operations manager. The study provides a detailed insight into organizational processes, logistics, hygiene standards and financial aspects of airline catering in the Czech market. The findings confirm that catering in air transport is a multidimensional field combining operational efficiency, strategic marketing and ecological sustainability. In the conclusion, the findings of the thesis are summarized, and further possible research directions are discussed, focusing on the environmental and financial impacts of airline catering and their potential to strengthen the competitiveness of service providers.
