The development of women's rights in Saudi Arabia in the context of the plan Vision 2030

This thesis examines the changing status of women in Saudi Arabia in the context of the Vision 2030 reform agenda. It examines to what extent changes in women's rights are the result of a genuine social transformation and to what extent they serve more as a tool to build a positive image of the country in the eyes of the international community. The thesis therefore focuses not only on legislative reforms and official government rhetoric, but more importantly on their concrete impact on women's everyday lives. Through a combination of analysis of primary and secondary sources, including documents from international organisations, academic studies and NGO reports, it critically assesses the actual contribution of these reforms. The results show that the level of internal social change and the level of strategic public diplomacy are interrelated, providing a key framework for understanding current developments in women's rights in Saudi Arabia.
