Euroscepticism in the Argumentation of Czech Populist Parties

This thesis explores the relationship between populism and Euroscepticism within the Czech political context. The aim is to determine the extent to which Czech populist parties employ Eurosceptic arguments. Given the limited number of studies on this topic in the Czech Republic, the thesis offers new insights into how populist actors position themselves towards the European Union. The analysis is based on a comparative case study, which enables a systematic comparison of selected populist parties and their communication patterns. A qualitative content analysis was conducted using data from official websites of the populist parties, focusing on the content of their public statements. The findings reveal that, despite strong criticism of the EU and calls for a referendum by some parties, soft Euroscepticism remains the dominant stance among Czech populist actors.
