This thesis examines the impact of ESG integration on private equity performance through a comparative case study of two major firms: Apollo Global Management and KKR. Using fund-level performance data and matched fund pairs, the analysis finds no consistent evidence that ESG constraints significantly enhance or reduce returns. Statistical testing confirms that most differences are marginal and not significant. The findings suggest that ESG integration, as currently practiced, functions more as a reputational or compliance feature than a source of financial outperformance. The thesis also highlights structural challenges, such as inconsistent ESG definitions, limited transparency. Recommendations include improving ESG reporting standards, designing region-sensitive policy, and encouraging further research into ESG’s long-term and portfolio company-level effects. |

Tato práce zkoumá dopad integrace ESG na výkonnost soukromého kapitálu prostřednictvím srovnávací případové studie dvou velkých firem: Apollo Global Management a KKR. Na základě údajů o výkonnosti na úrovni fondu a párových fondů analýza nezjistila žádné konzistentní důkazy o tom, že by omezení ESG významně zvyšovala nebo snižovala výnosy. Statistické testování potvrzuje, že většina rozdílů je marginální a nevýznamná. Zjištění naznačují, že integrace ESG, jak je v současnosti praktikována, funguje spíše jako reputační prvek nebo prvek dodržování předpisů než jako zdroj finanční výkonnosti. Práce rovněž upozorňuje na strukturální problémy, jako jsou nejednotné definice ESG a omezená transparentnost. Doporučení zahrnují zlepšení standardů vykazování ESG, vytvoření politiky zohledňující regiony a podporu dalšího výzkumu dlouhodobých účinků ESG a účinků na úrovni portfolia společnosti. |
