„It doesn’t matter that I can’t see, what matters is that you can’t see me“: The issue of employing visually impaired people in the Czech Republic

The bachelor thesis focuses on the employment of visually impaired people in the Czech Republic. The main objective is to understand the barriers and stigmatization that these individuals face in the labour market and to propose measures that could facilitate their employment integration. The literature review presents the current state of knowledge of the issue, while the research part includes narrative interviews with visually impaired people focused on their experiences in the labour market, analysis and interpretation of these interviews. The narrative interviews provide a detailed understanding of the individual and systemic factors affecting the employment of this group. The results point to stigma and prejudice among employers, the need to adapt the work environment, improve employer awareness and communication in general, and strengthen institutional support. The discussion then includes management recommendations aimed at creating an inclusive labour market.
