Possibilities for Promotion and Utilization of Josef Gočár's Buildings

This thesis examines the process of restoring selected buildings designed by Josef Gočár, with a focus on the intentions behind the restorations, their course, financing, current and future use. The primary objective is to compare the restorations of the Winternitz Automatic Mills in Pardubice, the Bauer Villa in Libodřice, and the Municipal Museum in Jaroměř in order to identify opportunities and threats associated with the restoration of cultural monuments and to propose recommendations for good practice. The research is based on a review of literature, semi-structured interviews with stakeholders involved in the restorations, and a comprehensive database of all existing Gočár buildings. The analysis highlights key opportunities, such as preserving cultural value, fostering public and community life, drawing on international cooperation, and leveraging the personal commitment of individuals. At the same time, it points out the main risks, including insensitive interventions, insufficient operational planning, limited financial support, unstable political backing, and conflicting interests among stakeholders.
