Simulation of the Financial and Logistical Impacts of Order-Picking Process Changes for a Specific Customer of a Selected FMCG Company

This master‘s thesis focuses on the evaluation of a proposed modification to the orderpicking process between Nestlé Česko s.r.o. and its wholesale customer. The objective of the thesis is to provide the company with a well-founded basis for deciding whether the proposed change should be implemented. The decision-making framework is built on data analysis employing both geometric and statistical methods. The analysis draws on actual wholesale customer orders placed between Q4 2023 and Q3 2024. The assessment of logistical and financial impacts indicates that the outcome of the proposed change will largely depend on its specific design. A regression model revealed that the modification could result in cost savings, particularly when applied exclusively to items ordered by cartons. This insight is of particular importance with regard to financial impacts, as cost savings can only be realized under this condition. The main limitations of the thesis include the assumptions made and the lack of detailed information concerning the planned change, which may affect the accuracy of the findings. Therefore, further discussions and field validation are recommended prior to potential implementation. Overall, the results of the thesis provide a valuable foundation for decisionmaking in the optimization of logistics processes.
