Analytical solution for financial reporting: Implementation in a wholesale company

This thesis focuses on the design and implementation of a Business Intelligence solution to support financial management in a wholesale company. The aim of the thesis is to eliminate technical debt in enterprise analytics and transform the existing fragmented reporting into a centralized data warehouse. The analytical part of the thesis focuses on identifying the requirements of the finance department and analyzing the current state, particularly regarding the level of analytical maturity, the technological environment, and available data sources. Based on these findings, a data architecture is designed according to the principles of an enterprise data warehouse with a normalized core, reflecting both stakeholder needs and infrastructure constraints. The proposed solution is implemented in an on-premise environment on the Microsoft SQL Server platform, with ETL processes developed using SQL Server Integration Services. The implemented solution is subsequently validated against the defined requirements. The main benefit of the thesis is a consolidated, fully automated data environment that replaces manual reporting based on the ERP system's production database. The newly created data warehouse introduces the principle of a "single source of truth," ensures higher data quality and availability, and significantly reduces the time required for financial reporting processes. The resulting solution therefore enhances financial management, improves decision-making processes, and provides a robust foundation for the further development of Business Intelligence within the company.
