Time series analysis and short-term prediction of particle pollution in Central Europe (1990-2022)

This bachelor thesis focuses on the time series analysis of particle pollution data in Central Europe, specifically Czechia, Slovakia, Poland, Germany, Austria and Switzerland, between 1990 and 2022. Furthermore, trend modelling is applied to generate a five-year forecast. The main objective of the analysis is to explore patterns in PM emissions in Central Europe over time and to compare these findings across the countries studied. Additionally, countries are classified into two larger groups: West-Central European countries (Germany, Austria and Switzerland) and East-Central European countries (Czechia, Slovakia and Poland); to compare underlying similarities and differences within and between these groups, which might be interlinked with the groups’ different economic and historical background.
