Abstract:
Diplomová práce se zabývá fenoménem superaplikací jako významným projevem digitalizace každodenního života ve východní Asii. Cílem práce je pomocí komparativních případových studií a analýzou sekundárních dat identifikovat hlavní rozdíly v projevu používání superaplikací WeChat a LINE v Číně a Japonsku. Zvláštní důraz je kladen na platební návyky uživatelů a finanční inkluzi. V kvalitativní části práce je porovnáno institucionální prostředí, ovlivňující vývoj a integraci aplikací do každodenního života včetně regulací, digitálního prostředí a fintech sektoru.

Abstract:
This thesis examines the phenomenon of super apps as a significant manifestation of the digitalization of everyday life in East Asia. Using comparative case studies and an analysis of secondary data, the thesis aims to identify the main differences in how the super apps WeChat and LINE are used in China and Japan. Particular emphasis is placed on users’ payment habits and financial inclusion. In the qualitative part, the thesis compares the institutional environment shaping the development and integration of these apps into everyday life, including regulation, the digital environment, and the fintech sector. The results indicate different trajectories of digitalization in the two countries: in China, mobile payments were adopted earlier and developed in parallel with rising internet penetration, whereas in Japan, super apps evolved in an already saturated digital environment with a traditional reliance on cash and a later expansion of digital payments.
