Social Media Detox

This thesis is based on the topic “Social Media Detox”. The aim of the study was to identify the impact of a social media detox on students at the Prague University of Economics and Business. The first section presents theoretical findings regarding digital detox, social media, and their impact on users. A study by Coyne & Woodruff (2023) was selected and replicated in this thesis. Subsequently, the research objective and research questions were defined in the methodology. Within the framework of mixed-methods research, three research methods were established: an experiment, a questionnaire survey, and semi-structured in-depth interviews. In the final section of the thesis, the intervention was carried out, and the obtained results were analysed. A synthesis of the quantitative and qualitative results was performed, the defined research questions were answered, and the stated objective of the thesis was fulfilled. The obtained results were also compared with the original study (Coyne & Woodruff, 2023). At the end of the thesis, the findings were summarized, the limitations of the research were identified, and recommendations were made for future social media detoxes.
