| Abstract: | This thesis examines the structural transformation of the automotive industry in the Visegrád Four (V4) countries within the global transition to electromobility. Using the Global Value Chain (GVC) framework, it analyzes how the CEE region integrates into battery supply chains, with a focus on the strategic role of Chinese FDI. The research reveals that while the region has successfully transitioned to high-tech manufacturing, it has become a specialized "integrated periphery" dependent on Asian lead firms. The analysis identifies a clear functional specialization: Hungary as a cell production hub, Poland as a separator specialist, the Czech Republic as a logistics node, and Slovakia as an assembly-led economy. Findings highlight a persistent "value-added gap," where strategic R&D remains concentrated in Asian headquarters. |

| Abstract: | Tato diplomová práce zkoumá strukturální transformaci automobilového průmyslu v zemích Visegrádské čtyřky (V4) v kontextu globálního přechodu na elektromobilitu. Za využití rámce globálních hodnotových řetězců (GVC) analyzuje způsob integrace regionu střední a východní Evropy (CEE) do bateriových dodavatelských řetězců se zaměřením na strategickou roli čínských přímých zahraničních investic. Výzkum ukazuje, že region úspěšně přešel k technologicky vyspělé výrobě, stal se však specializovanou „integrovanou periferií“ závislou na asijských lídrech trhu. Analýza identifikuje jasnou funkční specializaci: Maďarsko jako centrum výroby článků, Polsko jako specialista na separátory, Česko jako logistický uzel a Slovensko jako ekonomika zaměřená na montáž. Zjištění poukazují na přetrvávající mezeru v přidané hodnotě, kdy strategický výzkum a vývoj zůstává koncentrován v asijských centrálách. |
