The dramaturgy of managerial roles in uniformed security forces

This thesis examines the dramaturgy of the managerial role within the context of uniformed security forces. It draws on Erving Goffman’s dramaturgical perspective. The thesis aims to analyze how the managerial role changes depending on the circumstances. The empirical part employs a qualitative approach based on participant observation of a social event. The thesis analyzes the transformation of the interaction order over time and focuses on the role of the uniform and the mutual interaction of the actors. The results show that the managerial role is not a stable characteristic of the individual, but depends on the conditions in which the interaction takes place. A change in these conditions leads to a transformation like the interaction. This study contributes to an understanding of how social reality is shaped and transformed in a specific situation.
