Tato diplomová práce analyzuje, jakým způsobem hlavní město Praha integruje strategie budování značky (city branding) do výkonu své paradiplomacie a jak jsou tyto strategie institucionalizovány. Teoretickým východiskem je koncept paradiplomacie doplněný o perspektivu city brandingu a place marketingu. Výzkum je veden formou kvalitativní případové studie kombinující obsahovou analýzu klíčových strategických dokumentů hl. m. Prahy (zpracovanou hybridní tematickou analýzou) s expertními vstupy od Prague City Tourism a Oddělení zahraničních vztahů Magistrátu hl. m. Prahy; zjištění z obou zdrojů jsou konfrontována metodologickou triangulací. Práce zjišťuje, že Praha integruje branding do své paradiplomacie hluboce, avšak asymetricky a fragmentovaně: disponuje integrovaným pojetím značky, bohatým nástrojovým repertoárem a nadprůměrnou kulturou měření, avšak realizační kapacita je soustředěna v turistické doméně (Prague City Tourism), zatímco ekonomicko-inovační a talentová linie zůstává spíše deklaratorní. Chybí jediný gestor celoměstské značky; zastřešující koordinace se teprve rodí se Strategií zahraničních vztahů hl. m. Prahy 2025–2030.

This thesis analyses how the City of Prague integrates city branding strategies into the conduct of its paradiplomacy and how these strategies are institutionalised. The theoretical framework combines the concept of paradiplomacy with the perspectives of city branding and place marketing. The research takes the form of a qualitative case study combining content analysis of key strategic documents of the City of Prague (processed through hybrid thematic analysis) with expert inputs from Prague City Tourism and the Foreign Relations Unit of the Prague City Hall; findings from both sources are confronted through methodological triangulation. The thesis finds that Prague integrates branding into its paradiplomacy deeply, yet asymmetrically and in a fragmented manner: it possesses an integrated conception of the brand, a rich repertoire of instruments and an above-average culture of measurement, but its implementation capacity is concentrated in the tourism domain (Prague City Tourism), while the economic-innovation and talent line remains largely declaratory. A single owner of the city-wide brand is missing; overarching coordination is only emerging with the Foreign Relations Strategy of the City of Prague 2025–2030. The principal challenges Prague faces in linking branding with economic objectives are the fragmentation of actors, the tension between a tourism-narrowed brand and the ambition to communicate Prague as a hub of innovation, the risk of a reputation gap (affecting also the retention of talent), and the structural and budgetary limits of a sub-state unit.
