De-dolarizace světa? Analýza vývoje role amerického dolaru a monetární politiky USA v globálním kontextu v letech 2000-2024

Abstrakt:
Diplomová práce se zabývá vývojem mezinárodního postavení amerického dolaru a procesem de-dolarizace globálního finančního systému v letech 2000-2024. Cílem diplomové práce je zhodnocení vývoje dolarové dominance a ověření platnosti hypotézy ve znění: V období 2000-2024 docházelo k postupné de-dolarizaci světové ekonomiky, z pohledu amerického dolaru jako rezervní měny. Výsledky praktické části diplomové práce potvrzují statisticky významný pokles podílu amerického dolaru na světových devizových rezervách ve sledovaném období, což přispělo k verifikaci stanovené hypotézy. V diplomové práci byla provedena analýza alternativních měn a aktiv, která prokázala větší míru jejich využití oproti počátku sledovaného období. Žádná z těchto alternativ však zatím nepředstavuje plnohodnotnou náhradu amerického dolaru. Širší mezinárodní využití alternativ dolaru je omezeno zejména rozdíly v likviditě, bezpečnosti, důvěryhodnosti, institucionálním zázemí a rozsahu jejich využití v mezinárodním finančním systému. Přínosem diplomové práce je komplexní zhodnocení vývoje dolarové dominance v globálním kontextu a prokázání, že pokles podílu dolaru na světových devizových rezervách nepředstavuje bezprostřední ztrátu jeho dominantního postavení, nýbrž postupnou diverzifikaci globálního měnového systému.

Abstrakt:
This diploma thesis examines the evolution of the U.S. dollar’s international status and the process of de-dollarization of the global financial system from 2000 to 2024. The aim of this thesis is to assess the evolution of dollar dominance and to test the validity of the following hypothesis: During the period from 2000 to 2024, the global economy underwent a gradual process of de-dollarization, as measured by the U.S. dollar’s role as a reserve currency. The results of the empirical section of the thesis confirm a statistically significant decline in the U.S. dollar’s share of global foreign exchange reserves during the period under review, which contributed to the verification of the stated hypothesis. The thesis included an analysis of alternative currencies and assets, which demonstrated a greater degree of their use compared to the beginning of the period under review. However, none of these alternatives currently represents a full-fledged substitute for the U.S. dollar. The broader international use of dollar alternatives is limited primarily by differences in liquidity, security, credibility, institutional infrastructure, and the scope of their use in the international financial system. The contribution of this thesis is a comprehensive assessment of the evolution of dollar dominance in a global context and the demonstration that the decline in the dollar’s share of global foreign exchange reserves does not represent an immediate loss of its dominant position, but rather a gradual diversification of the global monetary system.
