This master’s thesis focuses on the potential application of Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) for the identification of cybersecurity risks within the environment of the Prague University of Economics and Business (VŠE). The theoretical part introduces key concepts and definitions related to OSINT and situates the topic within a broader context. It discusses the use of open-source intelligence across various sectors, with particular emphasis on cybersecurity, and addresses relevant legal and ethical considerations as well as emerging challenges in the OSINT domain. The practical part of the thesis aims to analyze selected OSINT tools and techniques in the context of VŠE. The OSINT investigation is structured into three dimensions: personal information, organizational information, and network information. Due to data protection requirements and privacy considerations of individuals associated with VŠE, the personal information dimension is examined only to a limited extent. One of the key outcomes of the theses is an analytical report that was submitted to the responsible personnel at the Center of Informatics of VŠE. Based on the findings, the thesis also formulates recommendations aimed at further improving the institution’s level of cybersecurity. Overall, the thesis confirms the maturity of existing cybersecurity measures at the Prague University of Economics and Business while demonstrating how selected OSINT tools can be effectively integrated to complement and enhance current security practices.
