Systémy financování a řízení vybraných vysokých škol

This bachelor’s thesis compares the governance and financing systems of public universities in the Czech Republic and Hong Kong. The selected universities are Charles University, The University of Hong Kong, and The Chinese University of Hong Kong. The aim of the thesis is to analyze the impact of different governance and management models on the financial structure and stability of these institutions. The theoretical part defines the concepts and models of governance and management, as well as the various forms of higher education financing. The practical part examines the structure of revenues and expenditures based on annual reports. The findings indicate that, while the Czech model demonstrates a high dependence on the state and collegial governance, Hong Kong universities apply a managerial approach with a strong diversification of funding sources and greater financial autonomy. The thesis confirms that different approaches to the role of universities directly determine their economic position and the degree of external control.
