Abstrakt:
This paper aimed to explain the connection between the environment, security and development through the case of the environmental migration. The perspective expressed here is that the state of the environment as a whole, and the way we manage our relationship make a difference for peace, security and stability of human societies. This occurs through multiple, complex and interconnected dynamics. The research then is backed up by the case of environmental migration as an example of how the understanding of the linkage between these three frameworks can encourage a more competent awareness of the problem. Forced migration is a threat to human security because it puts risks on population by demanding them to move from their homes. Within the development framework, environmental migration can expand communities' capacity to adapt to climate changes by building a strong internal structure that will be more resilient. Generally, internal and cross-border displacement represents a broader issue: the impacts of environmental modifications on development, social cohesion, human rights, security and peace.
Klíčová slova: Environmental migration; security-development nexus; climate change; sustainable development; human security
