This Master´s thesis deals with the issue of liberalization in rail passenger transport of the Czech Republic and related tenders. It highlited the need to increase the competitiveness of rail transport by opening up the rail market to private carriers. The aim of this work is to analyze the impact of liberalization in rail transport on subjects involved in rail transport. The first part outlines the development and current state of the Czech and world railway network. The next part is devoted to the conditions of tenders in contractual railway transport, which is based on legislation governing the conditions for railway operation in Europe and the Czech Republic. The third part describes the concrete steps the Czech Republic is taking to liberalize rail transport. The most important step is the division of České dráhy company in 2003 and the planned introduction of a uniform tariff. The final part of this thesis deals with the situation in the Ústí nad Labem Region, where from December 2019 will be five different railway carriers. The work deals with the conditions under which individual carriers will operate contractual transport, the issue of uniform fares and the planned establishment of a central dispatching center.
