Příčiny nenaplněné vize začínajícího režiséra u krátkometrážního filmu

The thesis explores the reasons for the unfulfilled vision of a novice director in the process of making a short film. In the theoretical part, the author first explains the meaning of the short film, then describes the position of the director, and last but not least, he discusses the various functions of the crew with an emphasis on their cooperation with the director. The practical part of the thesis deals with the causes that may be behind the unfulfilled vision of the director. It thus engages in causal analysis and examines whether the existence of all the different causes is purely random and thus cannot be effectively prevented, or whether there is some repeatability in some of the causes across directors. The aim is therefore to produce a list of the most common causes of unfulfilled directors' visions. To achieve this goal, the author first analyzes his own student film that he directed and considers the causes behind the unfulfilled part of his vision. Based on this, the author is then able to construct more relevant questions for in-depth interviews with eight short film directors, with whom he discusses their unfulfilled parts of the film in depth and tries to concretize together the reasons behind it. Thanks to the answers from the interviews, the author has a list of dozens of different causes, for which he then determines their frequency of occurrence through quantitative research. Thus, the author creates a questionnaire survey with thirty-six researched causes, and through the online environment, their prevalence is determined primarily among aspiring directors. The author finds that there is indeed a regularity in the occurrence of some of the causes and thus compiles a list of the seven most frequent ones. At the same time, he is surprised to find that he himself has encountered all seven causes while directing his own short film, which adds slightly to the relevance of the list.
