| Abstract: | Tato práce se zabývá současným postavením amerického dolaru a eura ve světové ekonomice a možnými změnami v jejich úloze v budoucnosti. V první části jsou uvedeny faktory ovlivňující pozici měn ve světové ekonomice a popsány funkce, které mezinárodní měny plní. Druhá kapitola se věnuje historickému vývoji obou měn. Třetí část hodnotí současnou pozici dolaru i eura ve světové ekonomice. Poslední část se zabývá potenciálem obou měn k udržení svého dosavadního postavení v budoucnosti. |

| Abstract: | The aim of this thesis is to compare the position of the U.S. dollar and the euro in the world economy and to describe possible changes in it in the future. The first part deals with the main factors that influence the role of a currency in the world economy and with international functions of a currency. The second chapter shortly introduces history of both of the currencies. The third part of this thesis focuses on the current position of the dollar and the euro and their role in the world economy. The last chapter outlines the possible future development of the international monetary system and of the position of the dollar and the euro. |
