Project management: on the path from traditional methods to agile

This dissertation focuses on the discipline of project management, a field with a growing importance worldwide. The goal of the dissertation is to give recommendations for use and deployment of agile approaches in Czech environment. The theoretical part of this thesis shows currently used methods and standards. These include new versions of traditional approaches and newly emerging approaches. The thesis also describes current trends in the discipline of project management. Agile project management is analyzed in more detail. Links to the theory of the firm and entrepreneurship are provided. As introduction of agile into enterprise is a change project, part of this thesis also seeks recommendations from change management for the agile introduction and implementation. Original survey builds on an existing survey of agile project management and identifies benefits and implementation of agile project management. Contributions of the thesis are identification of similarities in approaches traditionally belonging to different disciplines and better understanding of agile introduction and implementation.
