| Abstract: | Práce přispívá k debatě o vnímání jinakosti v Evropě na základě analýzy mediální scény před referendem o setrvání Velké Británie v Evropské unii. Cílem práce je identifikace klíčových konceptů využívaných v mediálním diskurzu v době před referendem ke konstrukci vnitřní a vnější jinakosti v Evropě a následně pak zachycení důsledků tohoto rozlišování. Teoretickým východiskem je teorie kritické geopolitiky, která vysvětluje jakými způsoby společenství konstruují okolní prostor a vlastní identitu. Výsledkem práce je poté odpověď na otázku: jak britský tisk charakterizoval jinakost v Evropě ve dnech předcházejících referendu a jaké důsledky tato vnímaná jinakost měla na výsledek referenda o setrvání Velké Británie v Evropské unii? |

| Abstract: | The thesis contributes to explaining the perception of otherness in Europe by conducting the analysis of the media discourse before The United Kingdom European Union membership referendum in 2016. The aim of this thesis is to identify the key concepts used in the media discourse to construct the internal and external otherness in Europe and to reflect the consequences of this practice. The thesis is based on the theory of critical geopolitics which helps us to understand how the social construction of territory and identity works. The result of this thesis is to answer the following question: how was the otherness in Europe described by the British press during the days before the referendum and how was the result affected by this description? |
