Mobile Application Development for Android Platform

It is easy to forget about a promise and not to inform a loved one about our current geographical location (e.g. after coming home safely), which may lead to negative emotions such as fear or anger. The aim of this thesis is to create a mobile application Handy Stalker, which will enable a user to send an automatic SMS message after departing or arriving at a specific place thanks to the geofencing method. As a supplementary function of the app, the user can turn the sound or Wi-Fi connection on and off depending on their location.The form of the thesis is based on the design science research. The systematic literature review was used for the analysis of similar existing applications. Firstly, the functional requirements of the application were established, then the application database was designed. The creation of wireframes was enabled by Balsamiq, and consequently, the application design was created. The application is developed for the Android platform in the Java language, using Android Studio. The Room library was used for the database. The application uses Places API and Maps SDK for Android by Google for geofencing and location searches. The application was continuously tested using emulators available in Android Studio and, in the final phase, on real devices. Handy Stalker can perform all functions as specified in the functional requirements. The appendix contains a user manual for the application.
