Agile methods in IT firms management

The aim of this thesis is to evaluate CA Technologies’ internal project management standards through the transition from waterfall to Agile methodology while incorporating a variety of viewpoints. Literary research concentrates on project management in the IT field, characterizes selected traditional and Agile methodology in project management, and emphasizes differences between these methods through their advantages and disadvantages. In order to obtain needed data for the practical part of this thesis, several methods of research have been applied – personal interviews with managers, a questionnaire in electronic form, and an interview with an Agile coach Ing.(MSc) Zuzana Šochová, MBA. In the practical part of this thesis, information was obtained through indexes of success centered on four projects with-in CA Technologies. The data was analyzed at the beginning and at the estimated conclusion of the aforementioned transition of project management methodologies. Furthermore, this thesis focuses on the discovery of employee opinion related to a comprehensive comparison of the waterfall model and the Agile method. At the end of this thesis the overall transformative process with-in CA Technologies is summarized with a concentration on barriers, problems faced, opportunities, and benefits experienced throughout the entire transition.
