| Abstract: | Cílem této diplomové práce je analyzovat faktory, které vedly k rozhodnutí Velké Británie vstoupit do první světové války. Práce se zaměřuje na vývoj a proměnu britsko-německých vztahů převážně v poslední dekádě před první světovou válkou. V první části práce je analyzován politický a hospodářský vývoj Velké Británie na přelomu 19. a 20. století. V hlavní části se práce věnuje milníkům britsko-německých vztahů, ať už vzájemným jednáním či zapojením do mezinárodních krizí. Dále je kladen důraz na otázku námořní rivality obou velmocí. Na závěr jsou zhodnoceny důvody vstupu Velké Británie do války a otázka nutnosti tohoto kroku. |

| Abstract: | The aim of this thesis is to analyze the factors that led to the decision of Great Britain to enter the First World War. The thesis focuses on the development and transformation of Anglo-German relations mainly in the last decade before the First World War. The first part analyzes the political and economic development of Great Britain at the turn of the 19th and 20th century. The main part of the thesis is devoted to the milestones of Anglo-German relations, whether through mutual negotiations or involvement in international crises. Furthermore, emphasis is placed on the issue of naval rivalry of both superpowers. Finally, the reasons for Great Britain's entry into the war and the question of the necessity of this step are evaluated. |
