Development of a program for formatting analysis of bachelor’s and master’s theses

The aim of this master’s thesis is to create an application that will be able to analyse as much of the formatting of bachelor’s and master’s theses defined by FIS VŠE as possible. Thesis gradually deals with three separate analyses, which are a prerequisite for the application development. The first analysis deals with the definition of formatting provided by FIS, second goes into deep detail of how the document stored inside the .docx format works, and what are its main files and elements, where essential information is preserved. The combination of these two analyses then leads to the third, that aims to identify possible formatting checks, which could be automated with the help of the developed application. Based on the analyses, the program itself can be developed. The concluding chapter describes the basic functionality of the program, including an overview of the screens, description of the main methods that perform individual checks, and complications encountered during the development. In conclusion the program is recommended as an assistant to the process of format check, but not as a full substitution, because there are still many factors, which cannot be checked by the program. It is highly recommended, that the old manual way should not be foregone by students, or the faculty.
