Job description and responsibilities of the Scrum Master role in Czech companies – questionnaire survey

This thesis explores the role of the Scrum Master (or a similar role in an agile team) in the Czech context. Despite the increasing popularity of agile methodologies in software development, the Scrum Master role often receives inadequate attention both in practice and in scientific research. This study aims to fill this gap by conducting a quantitative survey to examine the workload and responsibilities of the Scrum Master role in the Czech environment. The research also investigates how these responsibilities evolve based on team characteristics as its maturity or size. The study replicates and extends previous German research conducted by Spiegler et al. (2020) and utilizes a nine-factor theory of the Scrum Master role (Spiegler et al., 2019). The research methodology includes a systematic literature review, the design and implementation of an online questionnaire, analysis of the collected data, and a comparison of the results with the German study. The findings provide insights into the specific activities and responsibilities of the Scrum Master role in the Czech context and offer implications for practice in Czech organizations. The study acknowledges the limitations of the research, such as the voluntary participation in the online survey and the scope of the study, but also suggests potential future research directions based on the obtained results.
