Abstract: |

Abstract: |
The diploma thesis deals with the issue of emoticons in digital communication, especially the different perception by different age groups of the population. The theoretical part of the thesis describes the background of the emergence of emoticons, including their history and their use in email advertisements, on social networks and how they influences their perception. In the methodological part, it is discussesed why the surver quantitative method was chosen as the one that will be most suitable for the relevant research. In the practical part, the created questionnaire is already evaluated by description, while for each selected emoji it is measured how much positivity or negativity the respondents perceive (arousal) and how intensively it affects their emotions (valence). The result of the work is the finding that, although younger generations use emojis much more often, their emotional perception and the magnitude of the experience of intensity is lower than that of older generations. |
