„Odčiňujeme Bílou horu!“. Pozemková reforma za první republiky jako příklad hospodářského nacionalismu

The Bachelor thesis deals with the land reform during the first Czechoslovak republic era, specifically with the motives of its implementation by contemporary political representation. In the thesis I proceed from public choice theory, which among others deals with the behaviour of interest groups and politicians who try to maximize their benefits through the power tools. The thesis shows that this tool was the land reform, about which the parties all around the political spectre claimed it was needed, and its implementation the political parties tried to dominate. For this purpose they proclaimed several reasons for the necessity of the reform. The first reason was the poor distribution of land tenure, since it a narrow circle of people owned a large percentage of it. This group included the vast majority of aristocracy, and especially the German aristocracy. From that arises the second reason. According to the promoters of the reform the aristocracy acquired the land unjustly, through confiscations after White Mountain battle. This injustice should be remedied in the name of the password "We are making up for the White Mountain." To the Reform was therefore imprinted with the social and nationalist character, only for the purpose of obtaining voters, as evidenced by the results of reform. "Hunger for land" was satiated only partially and the White Mountain was not also remedied to the extent the nation wished, whereas the members of foreign nations continued to own a large percentage of the land.
