The introduction describes important concepts from wage statistics and legal norms leading to equality in remuneration for equal work. The thesis also explains the methodology of the statistical survey of wages and salaries of the Czech Statistical Office and the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs. Following that is a description of the methods for time series analysis that are used in the thesis. A big part of the thesis is dedicated to the analysis of time series of wages and salaries. The analysis is carried out using measures of dynamics and exponential smoothing, and time series divided by gender and also by gender and highest level of education are used. The main contribution of the thesis is, in addition to the analysis of the average wage and the median wage, the analysis of ratios and the differences in these characteristics between women and men. This comparison between genders is also carried out based on gender and highest level of education. Between 2009 and 2022, the gender pay gap narrowed year by year, but persisted across all levels of education. The biggest differences could be observed in persons with university education. On the contrary, the smallest differences could usually be observed in persons with basic and unfinished education. |
