Abstract: | The thesis endeavors to define how shopping centres can transform and prosper adapting to changing consumer behaviour and global trends in the digital era. To reach the goal of the study, qualitative research methods were used. Firstly, the document analysis method was applied. As a result, the examples of adaptations within the global shopping centre industry were defined. Secondly, the case study ofPrague’s shopping malls has been conducted. Based on this, e-commerce did not significantly threaten Prague’s malls, but they arecurrently at different digitalisation levels, thus compete in different categories within the destination experience and local conveniencecontinuum. The most advanced malls may further focus on synergieswith e-commerce, edutainment, and sustainable lifestyle, whileless advanced malls may consider focusing on convenience retail or transform into multi-purpose facilities. |
